Incorporating High Protein Foods into Your Family’s Diet

Article by Protica Research

Do you lead a fast paced lifestyle that leaves you little time to prepare healthy meals for you and your family to eat? Do you find yourself picking up something for dinner on the way home more often than you cook? This is probably not the best way for you to make sure that you and your family are healthy. And in addition to the unhealthy meals you are bringing home, you and your family are probably snacking on things throughout the day that are not good for a healthy diet. It is so important that everyone eat healthy foods, because without them, the body just cannot function properly, and not eating right can even lead to malnutrition and a host of other health problems. Obviously, you want to make sure that your family is healthy and happy, so it is important that you start making some changes to your lifestyle and making sure that you are feeding them meals that will keep their bodies strong and healthy for life.

When you are deciding on what changes need to be made in your family’s diet, don’t forget to add plenty of high protein foods. Protein is a macronutrient that everyone must have in their diets. It promotes strong, healthy muscles, is necessary for our eyesight, helps soft tissues and is a natural source of energy. Incorporating high protein foods into your family’s diet is a great way to ensure that they are getting the proper nutrition. And in addition to the protein in these foods, you will also be providing your family with many of the other vitamins and nutrients they need to be healthy.

How Much Protein Does Everyone Need?

Depending on the ages of those in your household, everyone is going to need to have different amounts of protein in their diets. Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to cook different meals for everyone. This would just be a total waste of time. Instead, cook meals that have a good amount of protein for everyone and provide high protein snacks for those who need to have a bit more in their diets.

How much protein a person needs in their diet not only depends on their age, there are many other factors that come into play as well. The amount of protein a person needs also depends on how much they weigh, how active they are, and if they have any health conditions that require them to have more or less of certain nutrients, such as protein.

How to Calculate How Much Protein You Need

The above information is just general. Everyone has different dietary needs, and this includes how much protein they should be getting from dietary sources. If you would like to have a better idea of how much protein you should be getting in your diet, you can use the following system:

- Convert your weight in pounds to kilograms. To do this, divide the weight in pounds by 2.2.

- Take the answer from the equation above and multiply it by 0.6 to 0.8, depending on your level of activity. The result will be a total that is very close to the amount of protein you should be getting in your diet.

Children and Protein

Of the three essential macronutrients, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, which are vital for children’s growth and health, the most important is probably protein. Children need to have more protein in their diets, because they are constantly growing and their muscles need to have protein. And children should have their energy come from healthy sources such as protein and not from sugary treats. Children of different ages need to have different amounts of protein in their diets, which can come from delicious high protein foods.

- Infants up to the age of 12 months should have about 13 or 14 grams of protein daily.

- Toddlers ages one to three need to have about 16 grams of protein daily.

- Children ages four to six should be getting about 24 grams of protein daily.

- Children ages nine and ten need about 28 grams of protein daily.

The amounts of protein needed get higher as children age. By the time they are preteens and teenagers, their dietary needs are going to be completely different and they will require much more protein, with the exception of older teenage girls.

- Males 11 to 14 years old should be getting about 45 grams of protein daily.

- Females 11 to 14 years old should be getting about 46 grams of protein daily.

- Males 15 to 18 years should be getting about 59 grams of protein daily.

- Females 15 to 18 years should be getting about 44 grams of protein daily.

As your children get older, it is important to make sure that you are giving them the right amount of high protein foods and that these foods are not high in fat and carbohydrates, so they are not going to become overweight. Childhood obesity is becoming a very big problem in the United States, with so many children spending more time with their computers and video games than outside playing and being active.

When Your Diet Doesn’t Provide Enough High Protein Foods

When you are not getting enough high protein foods in your diet, you may need to turn to alternative sources of protein, such as protein supplements. These are safe for most of your family members, with the exception of infants and young children and not only provide the additional protein they need, but also contain many other vitamins and minerals which are necessary for good nutrition. Depending on everyone’s needs, you may want to try different types of protein supplements before finding one that is suitable for everyone in your household. There are powdered protein supplements that you use to make shakes and smoothies that your kids will love and don’t even taste like healthy food. Or you can get some delicious protein snacks, such as Fruitasia and Protein Candy, both protein supplements by Protica.

Another popular choice for protein supplements is the liquid protein shot. Protica has created Profect, a liquid protein shot that provides 25 grams of protein in every serving. Profect also has 100% of the daily recommended amount of vitamin C, something that you need to make sure your family, especially your children, is getting enough of. You don’t need to worry about your family getting too much fat or calories when you give them Profect, because it has no fat and only 100 calories in every three ounce serving. For more information about Profect and other nutritional products for your family, you can visit the website at http://www.protica.com.

Family History Research – Get Talking Before Going On-line

Family history analysis has gained in popularity at concerning the identical rate as genealogical resources have gone online. Lots and thousands of internet sites and on-line databases currently hold various records that can be accessed with just a click and, typically, a subscription. No wonder so many beginner genealogists believe all they need to try to to to find their ancestors is grab their mastercard and flip on a computer.
However if you speak to many successful genealogists (and most likely a good few not thus successful genealogists, too) you will hear that their biggest mistake wasn’t delaying going on-line or not failing to take a position in the best family tree software imaginable. Their variety one regret is that they didn’t request out and discuss with every one in every of their elderly relatives and quiz their recollections about individuals and events, listen to their stories, and raise them to identify the people and locations in all the unlabelled pictures in the family album.
No matter how many genealogy records are on-line, there is never possible to be a higher resource than your own relatives for the facts and colour that reveal your family’s story through the ages.

These are the folks who knew your ancestral characters initial-hand, who heard the family tales while sitting at their grandfather’s knee or who witnessed the pivotal or momentous events that occur in most generations.
So if you have decided to induce serious about your family research, it is time to urge talking to your relatives. Older relatives ought to be your priority as a result of they are usually the most effective supply of stories that date furthest back, however do not overlook younger family members. They’ll well have heard stories from an older generation which will currently have passed away.
Approach the subject of an interview carefully. Tell the relative that the interview will be a time to talk about fond memories and tales. Reassure them that you want to listen to their stories, their feelings concerning folks and events, and you are not expecting dates, names and places. If your relative is extremely reluctant, suggest another person comes in on the interview – perhaps their spouse or child – to relieve some of the their anxiety regarding being put on the spot.
Let them see an inventory of your queries in advance. This ensures they need a probability to arrange, however let them grasp that it’s perfectly okay to not answer a question. They do not have to allow a reason.
The face-to-face interview is often easier for both parties, and usually yields better leads to terms of storytelling. Such a meeting could not be potential with each of your relatives, in that case opt for a telephone interview. Either method, be certain to follow the tips below for a successful interview:
? Prepare a date and time beforehand and be punctual.
? Send your queries and any photos/documents you would like to debate, in advance.
? If phoning, accept the cost of the call (your relative might give abrupt answers if he/she is aware of the phone bill).
? Record the conversation. Low cost gadgets are available. Using them permits you to target what your relative is saying rather than you struggling to keep up whereas making notes.

Genealogy and Family History Research – Verifying Your Information

While you are out there trying to do research on your family genealogy, you need to keep in mind one very important thing. There is a LOT of misinformation out there, especially in this time of the internet where information flows faster than we can possibly keep up with it.

Most people begin their search by starting a family tree online at places like Ancestry or One Great Family. These are wonderful sources of information, and the larger they get the more likely it is that you can hook onto someone else’s tree and all of a sudden discover dozens of ancestors you didn’t know of before. But, and this is a big but, you cannot accept all of this as absolute truth. Any family tree that goes back far enough is going to have errors, some of them quite serious ones, and sites like Ancestry are not responsible for making sure the information that is shared is accurate.

That is your responsibility.

A lot of people get their information from old manuscripts and books that are now out of copyright and being mad available on the internet. These people did their research at a time when it was extremely hard to do. They had to go to the source records, or spend months and even years corresponding with someone who had access to them. They did not have the advantage of the mountains of information we do today. So we can forgive them if they got some things wrong, which they did. But it still presents a problem for us today, because their erroneous conclusions are now available to thousands of people through the magic of the internet. People reading this material think they are reading accurate information, and they add that to their trees, and the bad information gets spread around.

This is why it is always necessary to go to the source records and verify things for yourself.

Let me give you a recent example I just went through myself. I had traced my ancestry back to a Jedediah Allen, who was born in Sandwich, Massachusetts in 1646. All of the information I was finding indicated he was the son of a Ralph Allen, born in 1615 in England, and the grandson of a George Allen, born in 1568, and who emigrated from England to the colonies in 1635. I had copies of a number of manuscripts and family histories written so long ago as to be out of copyright, plus all the trees on Ancestry had it that way.

So I spent about three weeks happily gathering all the information I could on the Allen family, and there were a lot of them. George had at least 10 children, and it seemed like Ralph had even more. However, as I went along it became apparent that there were actually two Ralph Allens in Sandwich for a number of years, and it was also apparent that both of them were in some way a part of this family. In the Plymouth Colony records there is mention of a Ralph Jr. and a Ralph Sr. But thre was no indication that Ralph had named any of his children after himself.

But if this was the case, then which Ralph Allen was my direct ancestor, the father of Jedediah? And which was the son of the George I had spent so much time researching? After another two weeks of intensive research I finally had to come to the conclusion that MY Ralph was the one called Ralph Jr. and that he was NOT the son of George. How disappointing! And the sad thing is, there is no way to quickly spread this information to other people who have the Allens in their trees. People will still find the old sources that are wrong. I know my Ralph is connected to this family somehow, I just don’t know how, and I don’t think I’m ever going to.

Other mistakes are quite prevalent as well. If you use sites that allow you to add other family trees to your own, you really should at least skim over the people who come into your tree. I constantly find people who had children well after their own deaths, or when they were eight years old. I found one account on a website, written up as a story, so you know the person had to have done at least SOME research. In this account they mentioned the year of death, But two sentences later they stated that the person was imprisoned two years later for having “Quaker leanings.” In working with the Pilgrim era like I do I find that many people list birthplaces as being the same place as somewhere they know their ancestor lived. But people were not born in Massachusettes in 1598. The Pilgrims didn’t arrive until 1620.

All of this illustrates how very important it is to verify all your information however you can from primary sources. Town and church records are excellent for this. If your ancestors were Quakers, they were probably in meeting records somewhere. Much of this source material is now available on the internet, and especially sites like Ancestry, where you can search through literally tens of thousands of records for a nominal monthly fee. Sorting out the Ralph Allens could only be done by comparing numerous records, and making logical deductions from them. Without doing this, I would have accepted a false family history. What’s the point of doing your genealogy if you don’t care be sure of its accuracy?

Raise Awareness and Funds for Children’s Medical Research with Lapel Pins

Article by Caryn Smith

It’s heart wrenching to watch a loved one battle disease, especially if that person is a little one. Childhood should be filled with laughter and playtime instead of surgeries, painful treatments or the stigma of not fitting in. Unfortunately, children’s cancer, autism and juvenile diabetes continue to make it difficult for many children to have an innocent and fun-filled youth.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention provides the following statistics:

> > Juvenile diabetes affects roughly one in every 400 to 500 children.

> > Childhood cancers are diagnosed in approximately 1.5 children out of every 10,000.

> > The low range for ASD (autism spectrum disorders) diagnosis is one in every 500 children.

Those may not sound like very high odds unless one of the affected children is in your family.

Research has brought us closer to understanding how these illnesses work as well as what can be done to treat and/or prevent them. There’s still a long way to go, however, before they no longer threaten our children. If yours is one of the many selfless groups that are raising funds for these, or one of the many other diseases that affect children, lapel pins can help. Medical research requires money and awareness. Lapel pins can increase both.

Raise Awareness & Money with Lapel Pins

Want to do something to help? Making others aware of the need is a big step in the right direction. That’s where lapel pins come in. Everyone recognizes awareness ribbon pins. Create lapel pins in the shape of awareness ribbons to bring attention to the childhood disease you’re working to support. Gold is the color of childhood cancer, grey ribbons represent diabetes and the puzzle ribbon reminds us of autism.

You can add a small amount of text or a logo to customize ribbon lapel pins for a group or event. Having a cookout or bake sale? Use awareness ribbon lapel pins to generate interest. Participating in a run to raise money? Lapel pins with the race logo can be worn to increase donations. Raffles, silent auctions, motivational speeches… they can all benefit from the attention lapel pins bring to the event.

You don’t need a degree in graphic design to make this work. Choose a company that allows you to work with expert, staff designers who will come up with just the right pin design free of charge.

While lapel pins look expensive they’re really quite affordable, making them a great gift for donors and volunteers. Give lapel pins to anyone making a contribution of a certain dollar amount and watch them smile.

When the donor wears his or her pin, they’re advertising for a very worthy cause. Each person they come in contact with will become aware of the illness your group is trying to overcome. The more people that know, the greater chance donations will increase. The word-of-mouth advertising that comes with lapel pins is priceless.

Everyone has a soft spot for kids. Lapel pins, like our children, are small in size but make a huge impact. With their help, it’s easier to spread the word about your cause and raise funds that will hasten desperately needed research. Whatever the illness you’re campaigning for, add lapel pins to your program and watch them produce more for you.

Tips On How To Examine Your Family Tree Working With People Search Free Websites

Article by Tim Clayton

It is not whatsoever essential to pay large amounts of money in order to analyze your family tree, it can be done cost-free applying people search free applications, zero cost software´s which you can grab, e-books and publications.

There are fee based solutions that many serious genealogists go with these types of professional services are often extremely expensive. In case you are wanting to not spend as much but need to do ancestry and genealogy, then I highly recommend considering all the no cost applications as well as sites available offline and online too.

As an illustration, individual family tree researchers as well as nearby family history and genealogy groups are free of charge and really valuable.Almost every region has their own family history and genealogy research club and in case you love to work at home, have you thought to investigate different people search free applications to carry out research queries on a variety of instructions.

A well known way to get reliable information is always to subscribe to a family history and genealogy journal and read literature which are on the topic. You can expect to spend about annually for just a journal subscription and up to a few hundred or so dollars for reading materials concerning genealogy.

Even so, once you begin the research on your own family tree, try not to work with any expensive guides or journals.First you are looking for your complete names then mindfully document where you located each of them (the sources). If you need a unique searching, then you may explore a guide and a paper for help.

When you’re getting deeper in your own family tree analysis and find that you may be related to a significant family coming from many regions and in addition they all hold different surnames, you will need to arrange all of the people which will be completed with a great genealogy and family history software programs like for instance “Legacy Family Tree” that offer you a free of charge download of their standard edition (at the time of creating this brief article).Just about all software programs are certainly not zero cost and commonly cost between and based on the functions.

In case you are searching for another cost-free genealogy and family history software, then I recommend checking out FamilySearch.org and download their complimentary software. The application is pretty uncomplicated but operates quite well and is definitely basic to use.You might have to create an account for you to obtain accessibility to all of the functions and to download the application.

Simply just enter your own family names and the software makes it uncomplicated so that you can discover all the relationships in between these individuals. This specific software program has got virtually no awesome and complicated charts, but there are additional computer programs, solutions as well as products out there that are actually costless and 100% works alongside FamilySearch.

At some point soon you are going to print out tables, documents as well as guides to help you in your study.Currently there is a no charge application called RootsMagic 4 Essentials that is entirely compatible with FamilySearch. It is possible to use this software program to print all your papers and documents with, and you won’t have to pay anything.

GeneTree.com is actually a family history website where you can do family reunions based on DNA.The internet site is made to assist men and women everywhere effortlessly have an understanding of exactly how their own personal stories match within the framework of the greater human being genetic story. The web-site allows people to understand their unique identity and also genetic heritage but also to get in touch with living relatives.

When employing special software programs sounds challenging then you can easily locate a lot of information and facts basically by making use of some of the many people search free engines out there, like WhitePages.com or ZabaSearch.com.Both of these sites help you search for individuals by a variety of factors along the lines of first name, last name, address, area code, community, country, zip code, and additional research phrases. It’s not necessarily identical as carrying out family tree investigation however it will be possible to discover a lost person utilizing these kinds of services.

A further technique to undertake groundwork is undoubtedly to taking a trip to your own ancestral home, nonetheless this might be quite expensive but definitely a trip you would keep in mind for the rest of your own lifetime. Before going on the trip, make sure to get all the critical documents in your home town. You need to find out the place your ancestors at one time were located.

You can likely find a few other researchers in your city, exchange information with these guys. You will never know just what you might find and this particular information and facts is clearly gratis. It’s always sensible to maintain an open mind and be helpful.

You can even make use of Google search.Start by entering “First Name Last Name” inside quotes and find out just what shows up.A different approach is to put the word “genealogy” immediately after the names. You may boost your own family unit history researching by making use of Google News Timeline. It presents news and also associated search results within the interactive time frames that may be incredibly useful in ancestors analysis.Go to http://newstimeline.googlelabs.com so that you can use the resource.

Furthermore , I suggest taking a look at Google Books, particularly the advanced search positioned at http://books.google.com/advanced_book_search.You can discover numerous books concerning family history and genealogy that happen to be without charge.

Article by Michael Harrah

According to migraine research, headaches are a global health problem that the general population should be aware of. Headache research has recently been executed throughout universities, wellbeing facilities and individual research agencies, and migraines have been graded as one of the prime 35 medical conditions impacting on people around the globe.

Headache research claims that the number of people affected by this condition has been on the increase during the last ten years. Pressure, stress and overworking have been proven to cause migraines. Geographical changes, sensitivity to odors and sleep disorders could also produce migraine headaches. Studies have also shown that increased temperatures can further increase the risk of migraine for sufferers.

This has led to the belief that headaches can be the result of weather along with climatic condition shifts. According to research, a migraine, in comparison to a normal headache, is more of a chronic condition that can be brought on by external stimuli. Women tend to suffer migraines more when compared to adult men and children, this may be because of hormonal shifts, but it can also be a condition passed on genetically through families. Research further states that your eating routine might highly influence the onset of a migraine. Levels of caffeine, as well as alcohol withdrawal are other major causes of migraines. Different standards of living have also been known to increase your vulnerability to migraines.

Migraine analysis proves that skipping a meal can be a cause of migraine headaches. Unfortunately, indulging in intense physical activities such as exercise and love making can actually result in migraines. Apart from investigating the causes of migraine, a few other research experts have written reports on migraine headache relief. Supplements containing folic acid and vitamin c are proven to improve general health and reduce migraine pain. Subjects who tested the supplements said their headaches were more controllable along with feeling much happier.

Researching Your Family Tree: Tips to Getting Started With Family Tree Creation

Article by Margaret Ravenscroft

Today researching your family tree has become a fascination with more people than ever before, and maybe this is because of how easy family tree creation has become.

Before, it took a lot of time, effort and money to be able to find out who was in your family and what their lives were like. You had to travel so that you could talk to people, you had a limited means of recording what you found out and there was no way that far off relatives could ever connect. These days, it is much easier to get started and the resources that you need to access are more readily available.

Technology has made it easier too. There are huge databases that exist on the web today that will give you names of your relatives and where they lived or what they did. All you need to do is have a few names and once you start your search on the internet using these names, you will find that you are able to compose a pretty good picture of what your family looked like before. A name will lead to more and more names that will lead to even more names.

There are lots of family tree creation resources available on the internet, and that has also made things much easier. You will find a lot of software, both free and for sale, which you can use.

Most of this software will be highly advanced so that it offers you different features that you can use to make your family tree accommodate much more detail.

Better yet is that today it’s so much easier to share information. If you know relatives who are thousands of miles away but you think they may know something that you don’t, all you need to do is drop them an email and explain your quest. In most cases, they will be willing to cooperate to give you the information that you need.

This type of sharing of information by families is adding to the bank of family tree archives and making it more and more easy to find your family tree online.

Features like Google Maps have eliminated the need to travel to see where your relatives lived, unless you want to get a feel of what their lives were like. You can now travel online and get as close as the street and the house where Great Grandpa lived without having to leave your desk.

You may be wondering why you should take all this trouble researching your family tree and your genealogy. It’s worth every moment. You are making something that tells you who you are, and you can keep it for generations to come. You are scripting the story of your family.

A great many stories have been written by people who simply started out tracing a family’s history! As they did it, they discovered great secrets and events in their family that they then went ahead and published. Even better is that the people who come after you will not have to recreate so much – they will find that you already provided most of the information.

Researching your family tree and looking at your genealogy is a tribute to those past. You want to know who they were and how they lived. How they influenced the life that you live today. It is worth spending time and money on; in a sense, it will become an invaluable asset.

Family Tree Search: How To Find Your Ancestors

Article by M.Markella

Are you planning on making your family tree? Are you curious to find where you come from and uncover your family’s history throughout the years? You must know that it’s not an easy task and you will need time and effort to create a complete family tree. You have to be organized and patient. But when you’re done the feeling you get is really unique. So let’s start.

I will try to give you some basic tips to get you started but you must remember that you need to research a lot unless there’s already some kind of family tree created by some of your ancestors.

If you are serious, invest on a family tree software that will organize all the information you find. Paperwork may become overwhelming as you will notice.

You will need a lot of paper.

Use a single sheet of paper for every person/ancestor in your family. Then make small family groups of ancestors. You will write information you find for every person in the single piece of paper that belongs to that person. And you will write a summary of the information from all persons who belong to a family group to the sheet of paper that belongs to a certain family group. For example for your family group (e.g. you, your spouse and your 3 children), use 6 sheets of paper one for every member of the family and one for the family group (5 members and 1 family group).

In the ancestor sheet of paper you will write all kinds of information you find about that particular person: Date Born, Birthplace, Marriage Date, Date of Death, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Spouse Name and all other information you decide is worth mentioning in the family tree.

In the family group sheet of paper you will write a summary of the information you have gathered from all persons who belong to that family group: Number of members, Husband, Wife, Children and other kind of information you might find and want to include.

Now it’s time to work and research. Start with yourself and your family. Gather information from your parents and their children. Then your grandparents and their children. Remember to keep track of the family groups and the sheets of paper that belong to each ancestor. As you go back in time you may need to contact other relatives, family friends or even researchers. Ask them to help you fill the information on your sheets of paper. Tell them you are creating a family tree for your entire family.

It’s a good idea to keep a family tree log of your actions. For example when you find a birth certificate update your family tree log writing the date that you found that death certificate and the person that death certificate belongs to.

Check out if there’s already someone who has created a family tree for a certain family group. Use that information to save time but verify if the information you find is correct. Look for wedding books, divorce papers, birth or death certificates, funeral cards, awards, diplomas, school books, employment records, military records, medical records and anything that you might find useful. You can obtain a lot of information from such papers like dates, ages, parents, witnesses etc. If you are really motivated and determined to create a family tree, this journey to the past will be fascinating.

And now let’s move on to the fun part. After you have gathered all the information you need, it’s time to design your family tree. You may want to use paper and fill the information so that it is organized and easy to access. But I’m sure after all that paperwork you will definitely need help from a family tree software that will save you a lot of time.

I hope you will reach your goal of organizing your family’s history and creating a family tree. If you are interested here’s a step by step family tree system that could really help you.
